Glenda; Bears love grapes and will do some significant damage the crop . Bears will feed in the fall before hibernation. The only thing you can do is to try and scare them off. We dealt with bears when I lived in BC they will feed at dusk eat there fill and move on. They will eat a lot of fruit if you can scare them away from the vineyard with dogs and or noise makers it will keep them away.
Moose -not sure if they will go after the fruit like deer, but they will damage the vines. I guess where you are there it can be a real problem. we've had Moose damage on fruit trees and ornamental shrubs here. the only thing that will stop them is a very large fence, but if they want to get at your plants it really won't stop them. kim

Has anyone had any experiences with bears around the vineyard? I will be planting in an area that has been frequented by bears; do they eat/damage the grapes and vines? What about moose, anyone know if they have a taste for grapes or the vines?

  Thanks,
