I am very pleased to see the progress being made in new, pioneering wine regions of Ontario.  Thank heavens that the new-generation hybrids are getting some action - and recognition.
The Georgian Bay area, possibly even up along the Tobermory Peninsula, and "Ontario's West Coast" - i.e. the entire shore of Lake Huron - are in my view untapped potential wine regions of the future.  Not only would wineries in that area add to Ontario's culinary tapestry, they would create employment and be a great resource for thirsty vacationers all the way from Grand Bend to Sauble Beach.
The time to dream big is now :)

Not sure how this missed the group, but here's an enthusiastic article about Coffin Ridge vineyards up near Meaford.

So far, about half of the 10-hectare vineyard has been planted, with geizenheim and frontenac. Winemaker Terry Rayner experimented to perfect the wine made from the hardy grapes brought in from Quebec and Ohio.

"You have to do things a little differently this far north," says Rayner.
