Is there not a spreader-sticker to help hold the tobacco compound to the leaves.I know it had a glicerin background, the same as kids use to make bubbles. Maurice

Quoting Jim Lloyd :
BT is used for caterpillars and is organic I believe. Good old chemicals like Malathion or Diazanon would work too
I currently have a problem with Rose Chaefers. Some years I just let them do their number and they go away. - I come from a different attitude about insecticidal spray. - I am at the other end of the spectrum as far as using such chemicals as Malathion or Diazonon, unless the vines were in jeopardy. I certainly would not want to drink wine with such harsh chemicals. - I beleive one of the less damaging chemicals you can use is Ripkord? - Although I sometimes will use a cancoction of lemon dish soap, juice of lemon, and the water residue of steaped tobacco. - This is all good untill the next rain fall. - Just my thoughts...And totally understand if you rely on your crops heavily and use the traditional insecticides. - I think many grape growers overkill with chemicals.
Hoping one day the label of wine bottles will have all the chemicals that were sprayed on them. - I think you would see consumers changing their buying habits.

Hi Larry! Sounds like gypsy moth? There is some kind of spray that affects them biologically. It is not a chemical. An area adjacent to us was just aerial sprayed. Can't tell you the name, but I bet Phil Ryan can. Ciao, Margaret

We are having a problem with some small (about 1 cm long) black worms on the leaves. In some cases they have almost defoliated entire vines.
What is available to fight these (safely) without special access to chemicals?
