Paul et al:

I'd love to include commercial wines, but am waiting for someone to inform me of which recognized competition they won which award for.

Larry, thanks for the posting. I love reading through those annual lists. It's also inspiring to see authentically Central Ontarian wines being evaluated and enjoyed.

I don't know if this would count as a submission because it's not a "homemade" wine, but Bert Andrews' Halton White is a favourite of mine that is certainly from outside the traditional wine growing hotspots. The inaugural 2002 vintage was one of my absolute favourite Ontario white wines ever. That was a hot year and I swear I could even taste a bit of "grape jelly" from the Cayuga in the blend - a lovely bouquet on a solid 13.7% alc. frame. The 2006 has a lighter frame but is enjo yable all the same. Halton White is one of the best kept secrets out there.

Personally I make dry Niagara but need to source it from Niagara because I don't have the space for a vineyard.
