Fig wine was my first wine that ever made back in Sweden 25 years in the past, makes a nice and strong wine, you need a lot of sugar. In Sweden you purchase all the left over figs (dryed figs only, fresh stuff is way difrent) after Christmas sales.

Hey Burt - growwine is for anything to do with winegrowing in cool to cold climates!

Has anyone made fig wine here?

One does not need a greenhouse, although its sure better.
My 6 varieties of figs are potted ones --grow outside from May to late Oct, then when dormant go into a low ambient temp., dark garage 'til next spring. Not ideal-- better'n doing without. Cheers Bert

Sorry Larry- had to give my 2 cents worth even if its not on grapes

Yes but they are in my greenhouse (unheated passive solar) Never knew I liked figs so much till I started growing them. And they crop 2 or 3 times a season .... so nice.

      HI Lardy

funny email response from A&P . Peaches do not RIPEN from the inside out, they ROT from the inside out LOL
While a few types of tree fruit , like pears, will ripen off the tree most do not.
That's why you will see stores advertising "Tree ripened" of course that's usually nonsense too as tree ripened peaches would be pulp if shipped any distance.
REAL tree ripened fruit is hand wrapped and packed in special containers which protect each piece of fruit in transit.
