Hello Laura
Tried it, but the frost is too deep here and they were toes up by spring.
Then got tired of burying them, with lots of earth, mulch on top. They came up moldy in the spring
Going to stick with what works for me.
I pick 'em early in morning, wash well, then down the hatch starting with the least sweet one, work up to the sweetest.. Bl--dy good!! Cheers Bert

HI Bert
you can actually grow them outside too and just let them winter kill to the ground. They will come back up from the root but you will only get one crop per season this way. If trying this method people still usually cover the trunk and grow in a shrub style instead of tree ie from the suckers.
I hear figs make great wine but you who afford to figure that out LOL

One does not need a greenhouse, although its sure better.
My 6 varieties of figs are potted ones --grow outside from May to late Oct, then when dormant go into a low ambient temp., dark garage 'til next spring. Not ideal-- better'n doing without. Cheers Bert
Sorry Larry- had to give my 2 cents worth even if its not on grapes

Yes but they are in my greenhouse (unheated passive solar) Never knew I liked figs so much till I started growing them. And they crop 2 or 3 times a season .... so nice.
